eta: this was posted june 3rd over on lj-- forgot to crosspost here.

Me? Posting? I know, right? But I've got massive amounts of free time on my hands these days. School is now officially out, I no longer have a job (the grant ended, sigh), and campus has this lovely media resource center that has just about every movie you could ever want, so I've been spending a lot of time catching up on entertainment.

Movies what I have seen in the past few weeks:

Die Hard 1-3: I'm officially in love with these movies, especially the newest one. Awesome. Such pretty explosions! Thank you, M, for introducing me.

Hellboy: Not the most amazing thing ever, but entertaining. Meyers was definitely my favorite character, but I hear he's not in the second movie or the comics? Sad. Also, I did have a hard time accepting Hellboy as a supposed teenager-- mainly because my mental image of Ron Perlman will, for all time, be this.

Incredible Hulk: Although much, much better than the first one, still not on my list of favorite superhero movies. I think that's more the character's fault in general though, rather than the movie itself-- I've never been very fond of the Hulk.

Kung Fu Panda: Yay!~ This was fun! Much better than I was expecting, so much so that I actually went looking for fic for it-- didn't find much worth reading, though. And the animation at the beginning was so very very pretty.

Back to the Future 1-3: God knows how I'd lived this long without seeing these, cause I sure don't. I may have seen bits and pieces of the third one on TV at one time or another, but not all of them, despite my mother's claims to the contrary. In any case, I now totally understand why people love them, and I would very much like a flying, time-traveling steam train of my very own, please, and perhaps a hoverboard as well. (Although, could someone please tell me exactly how he got the technology and tools to make said steam train in 1885?)

Sneakers: Hacker heist movie a la 1994. Much more entertaining than I was expecting! I think it'd appeal to people who like Leverage, although it lacks that zany edge. And I have no clue how it appeared on my list of movies-to-watch; possibly TV Tropes' fault.

And then today I caught a bus to the movie theater in the mall and saw both Up and Night at the Museum 2. (Don't worry, no spoilers.)

Up: I will not lie, I spent about a third of this movie sobbing into my hankie. Oh my God, you guys, it is fantastic. You all need to run out and go see it this very instant. (Of course, it's Pixar; were you expecting anything less??)

Night at the Museum 2: I think my favorite thing about these movies (or perhaps Ben Stiller movies in general) is their complete inability to take anything seriously. Drama? Pssh. Let's have monkeys running around instead.

Also while at the mall, I picked up the DVD of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog (singing commentary, yay!) and Sarah Rees Brennan's new book, The Demon Lexicon-- currently 65 pages in, and so far it's highly enjoyable. Does remind me rather a lot of Rob Thurman's series, though. And the quote by Scott Westerfield on the cover-- "full of shimmery marvels and bountiful thunder" (???)-- makes absolutely no sense.

So, that's my life lately. And now 'tis time to go off and watch another movie, I think.
